“Dad I’m serious, I am telling you the truth!”
These are the words one of my children exclaimed as I questioned them the other day. It made me smile as I realized the appeal was challenging me to consider truth.
Is truth even important? Does it matter? Can you know it? Should we be teaching it to our children? If you are a parent you know we do not have to teach our children to lie. It comes naturally as a result of sin and our fallen nature. However, it has been the goal of my wife and I to teach all of our 6 children from a very young age the importance of telling the truth.

Will Your Faith Cause You To Leap?
It was a typically beautiful Saturday here in Southern California and I was working out in my garden. My five-year-old son who loves to climb was perched on top of my work shed about 9 feet above the surrounding concrete slab. “Will you catch me dad?” he asked. Upon seeing me nod my head, without hesitation he leaped off the roof into my outstretched arms. I caught him of course (however in a few more years I may not be so confident). But it was his confidence that intrigued me. “Derek, why do you trust that I will catch you?”, I asked. His response was simple but powerful. “Dad, I have been jumping into your arms my entire life and you have never dropped me.”
So what does happen the moment our body dies? What happens to our soul? This is an extremely important question that demands answers especially for those of us who have lost loved ones. I remember vividly standing in a hospital room in San Francisco over looking the Golden Gate bridge as my wife and I held our oldest daughter as she passed out of this life? Where did she go? Could we really know? I am thankful that because of my Christian worldview I could confidently answer this question. I know where she went! I know where she is now, and so can you.

VERSES OF COMFORT – James Werner
These verses have been a tremendous comfort and encouragement to me and my family. I put these together when my oldest daughter Kayla went home to be with the Lord. The truths they contain were especially helpful in sustaining us during that trial. I have reflected on them many times since and have been blessed and encouraged as we continue to experience the joys and tears of life. I hope they will give you strength and hope in whatever trial you may be experiencing.
